Sunday Online Gatherings July 2020

Unitarian, Universalist, and Unitarian Universalist communities welcome everybody in any body. While public health experts recommend that high-risk populations and kūpuna remain home, Unitarian Universalist communities across the globe are offering online gatherings where all are welcome.

The gatherings below extend a special welcome to people in Hawaiʻi.

Hilo Unitarian Roundtable Discussion @ 10AM HST

Every Sunday, the group gathers to discusses a topic that is selected the week before by participants. The person who proposed the topic typically introduces the topic and facilitates the conversation in a way that honors the participation of all present.

First Unitarian Church of Honolulu's Worship Service @ 10AM HST

The First Unitarian Church of Honolulu is the only full member congregation of the Unitarian Universalist Association in Hawaiʻi. Each Sunday the congregation gathers for a staff-supported full worship service including music and sharing of lamentations and celebrations. The Honolulu congregation also offers several other opportunities for people to connect socially on Zoom during the week.

Unitarian Universalists of Puna @ 10:30AM HST

The Unitarian Universalists of Puna meet each Sunday for music, readings, and discussion. Please email Cathy Young for connection information.

Church of the Larger Fellowship’s Worship Service @ 2PM HST

The Church of the Larger Fellowship serves the Unitarian and Universalist, and UU “adjacent” diaspora with worship and other forms of gathering that honor multi-religious expressions of humanistic values.

Unitarian Universalists of West Hawaiʻi

The Unitarian Universalists of West Hawaiʻi invite people to join the First Unitarian Church of Honolulu or the Church of the Larger Fellowship to worship. The congregation is currently focused on making sure that members are well connected through small group gatherings. Please email us to connect.

Current plans are to gather as a whole body once a month online beginning in September.

UUA General Assembly Sunday Morning Worship @ 7AM HST

The annual General Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Association has been taking place online this week. Some sessions are available to non-registrants as streaming video and as on-demand video after the event. The public has always been welcome at the Sunday Morning Worship.

This year’s theme is “Beyond the Water’s Edge”:

These are uncertain and volatile times. These are times that call on us to work towards our collective liberation while also tending to our spiritual needs and caring for others. How do we ready ourselves for what is being asked of us? How do we keep moving even when we don’t feel ready?

The Church of the Larger Fellowship serves the diaspora of Unitarian and Universalist, and UU “adjacent” people who value multi-religious expressions of humanistic values.

This week CLF encourages people to attend the UUA General Assembly’s Sunday Morning Worship online.

We gather for music, words of challenge and inspiration, check-in, and conversation.

This week we will be celebrating Pride Sunday and asking: what happened when we accepted who we are?

This will be the last gathering in this format.

Note: You can connect as early as 3:15PM to hang and talk story. At 3:55PM there will be a brief technology overview by request. Helpful Zoom skills are 1) knowing how to connect to a meeting, 2) knowing how to mute/unmute yourself, and 3) learning how to switch to and from the "Gallery View" of participants.
